Ethans Peaks 2012

Posted by Bob McGurrell on July 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM

14 Intrepid climbers embarked on Ethans Peaks 2012 covering 25 miles over the Yorkshire three peaks. The climbers included Ethans Dad Jimmy Pickersgill and brother in law Paul Caisley. We also had the honour of Oliver Cole's mum and dad Liam Gray & Laura Smith. We were also joined by David & Robbie McGurrell, Jessica Burton, Jessica Smith, Joanne Clark, Graeme McKie, Paul Ritson, Shaun Rothery and the legend that is "Fletch".

Ethans Peaks began in earnest at 6.30am from Holme Farm Campsite after getting prepared the night before. Jimmy and Paul starting preperations before everyone else !! Pen-Y-Gent was the first to be completed then we all decended in the dreaded "BOG". We all made good time to the Viaduct at the base of Whernside and made our way to the summit. The steep descent from Whernside slowed some of the group and we all gathered at the shop, before the final push up Ingleborough. Some of the faster members pushed on and managed to finish in 11 hours and 45 minutes with the rest of the group close behind. A fantastic effort, and we all look forward to Ethans Peak 2, next summer. Well Done Everyone.
